Thanks for your patience. People have asked when we would publish details about the next Blazing Brilliance book club. The details are available now!
Each year, Blazing Brilliance provides four community book clubs, one per season. For 2025, we have made some adjustments based on feedback over the last two years. We moved from five participation tiers to three. Here are the tiers:
- Tier 1: Cost is $50. This tier includes weekly Zoom meetings on Thursdays at 7 p.m. E.T., a participant guide full of resources, and a private WhatsApp book club community.
- Tier 2: Cost is $30. This tier includes everything from tier one but is only for college students, both undergraduate and graduate level.
- Tier 3: Cost is $20. This tier includes a private WhatsApp book club community and the participant guide.
Unlike other book clubs where people only hang out and chat about books, our book clubs are facilitated by educators and experts who bring additional resources for participants, hence the participation fee.
We have also partnered with Black Worldschoolers. This means you should purchase your book club books from our partner. Black Worldschoolers will provide your books in a timely manner.
For the Culture Winter Book Club will occur from February 2, 2025 to Saturday, March 15. Our theme is Affrilachia. This term was coined by author Frank X. Walker, and it describes Black Americans who live in Appalachia.
We will read the following books:
- Gone Home: Race and Roots through Appalachia by Karida L. Brown
- Affrilachia by Frank X. Walker
- Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts: Stories and Recipes from Five Generations of Black Country Cooks by Crystal Wilkinson
