Do you yearn to immerse yourself in captivating narratives and explore new literary landscapes? Look no further! Join our summer book club where we invite you to escape the clutches of work-related reading. What is a better time to do this than the summer?

We understand the need for a break from the scholarly texts and industry publications that occupy our professional lives. Together, we will rediscover the joy of reading purely for pleasure and delve into captivating stories that transport us to fantastical realms, thought-provoking narratives, and heartwarming tales.

In this book club, you will connect with fellow book enthusiasts who share your longing for literary escape. This club includes lively discussions, diverse perspectives, and an unwavering commitment to the joy of storytelling.

Your literary leaders are sisters, Alice and Shawnta, whose differing perspectives when reading the same text, should lead to some amazing discussions.

What You’ll Gain:

– An escape from work-related reading
– Accountability to stay the course & read
– A community of people who want to discuss books

Alice Stockton
Book Club Facilitator

Alice passionately serves as an infant teacher, creating a safe and nurturing environment where society’s youngest members receive personalized care. Her gentle and patient demeanor allows her to establish strong bonds with both the children in her care and their families. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science Education.

Alice loves to read any type of book. However, if she had to narrow it down, she prefers reading biographies, romance novels, and books written by Black authors. She is looking forward to discussing books this summer.

Shawnta Stockton Barnes
Book Club Facilitator

Shawnta serves as an education consultant and Editor-in-Chief of an education publication. She loves learning knowledge and helping others grow professionally. She holds a Doctorate of Education in Literacy, Culture, & Language Education.

As an avid reader as a child, it seems Shawnta was destined to become an English teacher, a role she held for nearly a decade. She loves reading young adult literature (YA), biographies, and fantasy. She is looking forward to fostering a community around books.
