Glow & Grow Garden Club is part of our outdoor learning integration services. Under this model, we help schools that have a garden or will have a garden create and operate a garden club with a student-first focus.
Student-first means that students have choice and voice! We allow them to help create the garden goals. They also have several opportunities to try various gardening tasks with the ultimate goal of gaining profiency in those skills.
Additionally, there is an academic component. Literary-rich STEM experiences are embedded throughout the work. Literacy-rich means the activities collectively have either reading, writing, listening, and speaking. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Our STEM component leans heavily into life science and math components. Academics are emebeded in such a way that students forget they are learning.

We highly recommend schools or organizations have multiple garden clubs per year based on the season with multiple breaks integrated between each seasonal club. Here is a sample plan:
- Winter Glow & Grow Garden Club – Students will learn about the USDA Hardiness Zones in order to research and create a garden plan for the spring, summer, and fall.
- Spring Glow & Grow Garden Club – Students will plant seeds and starter plants to begin the garden. They will learn how to properly harvest and make harvest meals. Note: If there is not a winter club, the first activity this group will do is create a gardening plan.
- Summer Glow & Grow Garden Club – Students will plant seeds and starter plants to begin or continue the garden. They will learn how to properly harvest and make harvest meals. Note 1: If there is not a winter club, the first activity this group will do is create a gardening plan. Note 2: This is the best club to do if the school or organization has limited capacity for multiple clubs.
- Fall Glow & Grow Garden Club – Students will plant seeds and starter plants that can thrive and grow during the fall. They will learn how to properly harvest and make harvest meals. Last, they will prepare the garden for winter shutdown. Note: If there is not a winter club, the first activity this group will do is create a fall gardening plan.
