New Teacher Academy

Blazing Brilliance empowers individuals in education, and one way it achieves this goal is through a program for new teachers. Known as the New Teacher Academy, this program provides professional development, increases new teachers’ retention, and offers them the support they need.

New teachers practicing an academic engagement strategy

There are two tracks to choose from.

Track A

In this track, teachers will have a full day of professional development before the school year begins to help them prepare for the upcoming school year, particularly the first month.

Teacher coaching

Moving forward, the teachers will meet after school each month to discuss achievements and struggles. New skills will also be taught during this time to enhance the teaching and learning environment. Additionally, teachers will receive teaching and learning observations with personalized coaching. By the end of the school year, teachers will have proficiency in a set of instructional strategies and will be better able to manage the duties they must balance as teachers.

Track B

In this track, rather than meeting multiple times, teachers will meet only once before or during the first month of the school year.

Teachers will still be taught the same tips and skills from Track A, but won’t receive the same year-round support.

Teachers practicing the two lines discussion strategy

According to data collected by the Center for American Progress, in 2025, around 70% of new teachers quit or consider quitting within the first five years. They list multiple reasons why new teachers make this decision, but lack of support tops the list (source).

Reasons like those are only amplified for new teachers who are navigating a new workplace. Schools and organizations can help prevent teacher turnover by providing targeted and intentional support.
