For the Culture Book Club: Celebrating Black American History
2025

Sunday, February 2, 2025 – Saturday, March 15, 2025
Registration is closed.
For the Culture Book Club happens annually during the winter season. Each year, this online book club focuses on a different culture to celebrate and learn about. For the 2024 book club, our theme will be Affrilachia. The term Affrilachia was coined by author Frank X. Walker to describe Black Americans who lived in Appalachia.
There are three tiers for participation with the fee ranging from $15-$50. This allows our facilitator(s) to be compensated for time spent facilitating the book club. The fee also covers the cost of resources from the facilitators. Additional information about the tiers can be found on the registration page.
In case you are wondering, the third book does include more than recipes!
This club includes lively discussions, diverse perspectives, and an unwavering commitment to lifting up histories, stories, and culture.
Your literary leader Shawnta Stockton Barnes, who is a champion of access to all books and stories. Bianca Carter serves as our book club assistant.
